Final Office Action
What is a Final Office Action?
- A Final Office Action means the examiner did not find your amendments and/or arguments persuasive and is maintaining his/her rejections or has found new grounds for rejecting your claims.
- If you would like to amend your claims further and have the Examiner continue examining your application, you will likely have to file a Request for Continued Examination (RCE), which means extra fees.
- Other alternatives include filing a continuation, a continuation-in-part application (CIP), or filing an appeal to the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences challenging the examiner's rejections.
